Sustainable Business, B-Corp Certification Event

BETHEL, Conn., March 5, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — As more Connecticut businesses seek ways to benefit from best practices of a triple bottom line that considers people, planet and profit, the Connecticut Sustainable Business Council (CTSBC) and business member Envest Asset Management (EnvestAM) will convene thought leaders on the topic of B-Corp certification, a respected third-party certification focusing on the principles of sustainable business.

“When I started EnvestAM, it was important for me to incorporate my core values of environmental responsibility, transparency and accountability into my company and our B-Corp certification shows clients our commitment,” says owner, James Osborn.

EnvestAM was recently awarded its certification and was the sixth Connecticut-based company to do so, joining more than 3,200 companies from more than 150 industries. “These companies are redefining what it means to be a successful business. They have raised the bar and will be what competitors want to emulate,” according to Heather E. Burns, CEO Connecticut Sustainable Business Council.

Deloitte will host business executives, sustainability professionals and industry leaders for dynamic, rapid-fire presentations, an interactive panel discussion and networking on Thursday, March 19, 5:30 to 8 p.m., at offices located at 695 East Main St., Stamford. Panelists include executives from Bigelow Tea, EnvestAM and Trifecta Ecosystems. Topics include benefits, challenges and process involved in obtaining B-Corp certification.
